Nine days. That's how long immigrants who want to become citizens have before
the naturalization application fee jumps 80 percent.
It's just one of many fee increases that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
will implement beginning July 30.
Right now it costs $400 - $330 for the application and $70 for fingerprinting - for
foreigners who have been given permanent resident status in the United States to apply for citizenship. At the end of the month it will cost $595 for the application and $80 for fingerprints.
